Senior IT managers will like the new GRCM interface that
Archer
Technologies
is rolling out at RSA.  Archer is offering a first-of-its-kind
GRCM console that runs on a variety of mobile platforms, including
iPhone and Windows Mobile.  "Senior executives at many of our client
companies have asked for this capability," says Julian Waits, Archer's
Vice President of Business Development.

Archer isn't just another security gadget house.  The Overland Park,
Kansas-based company strengthened its GRC capabilities in recent
months when it acquired
Brabeion Software in January, and has
been building its reputation as a leader in the GRC market space, with
a client list heavy on Forbes 350 and Fortune 1000 companies

Solera Networks' Dave Nish and Ryan Smith demonstrated their
versatile DS Series Network Forensics Appliance. The DS Series is a
scalable network monitoring and cacheing device that allows security
professionals a full view of network activity over time. Nish is quick to
point out that the DS Series can work in concert with nearly any
network analysis tool currently available.

"Our customers don't need to replace their current security
infrastructure when they install Solera's appliance," enthuses Nish,
"but its does give security professionals a whole new view into their
network activity."  Not surprisingly, Solera is beginning to see its
customers adapt the DS Series for GRCM purposes.

Sunbelt's VIPRE anti-malware offering has been giving McAfee and
Norton a run for the money, and now VIPRE has been enhanced with
its new MX-Virtualization feature.  MX-Virtualization runs Windows in a
virtual environment to enable observation and analysis of malware
behavior in a contained environment. Sunbelt CEO Alex Eckelberry
told BizTechReports that Sunbelt miraculously posted its best first
quarter ever for Q1, 2009, and he's hopeful that MX-Virtualization's
new capabilties will help make the remainder of 2009 a succcess as
well.

Passlogix's single sign-on offering doesn't synchronize multiple
sign-ons with a common password--it allows unique passwords for
constituent systems.  If necessary, Passlogix can even keep individual
system passwords secret from users, which is a business need in
enterprises with high employeed turnover, for example. Michele
Favaro of Passlogix explained to BizTechReports that the offering can
be customized to support any business case.

Joe Moorcones brings a wealth of experience as a senior-level
government and corporate IT security practitioner to his position as
VP/General Manager at
SafeNet. Moorcones briefed BizTechReports
on SafeNet's data protection offering, which relies on end-to-end
encryption to offer a high assurance of protection for data in use, in
motion, and at rest.

SafeNet and its sister company, Aladdin, a provider of digital rights
management and IP protection solutions, were recently placed into a
common management structure. Moorcones and his Aladdin
counterpart, Prakash Panjwani, are excited about upcoming
opportunties for the two companies.

Moorcones points out that enterprise customers are learning that
Safenet's approach to IT security provides an excellent foundation for
GRCM. "Good security solves compliance," Moorcones told
BizTechReports.

Phil Lieberman, President of
Lieberman Software, a Microsoft Gold
Certified Partner, would like to sell you his company's security
management tools.  "But," Lieberman told BizTechReports, "what we
would really like is for companies to take their information security
more seriously. Companies need to back up their spending on
security with policies and leadership." Lieberman further noted that
companies that don't take compliance seriously--"You can read the
papers to find out who they are," he says--predictably do not do
security well.

The GRCM-Security connection appears to be the big thought among
many of the exhibitors and visitors with whom
BizTechReports visited
at RSA.

Hord Tipton of (ISC)2 also echoed the big thought. "We're getting
security professionals to embrace a holistic approach to security, to
add value to business processes, with our new Certified Secure
Software Lifecycle Professional certification," enthuses Tipton, who
also recognizes interrelationship between GRCM and security.
