Evaluating finance function strategy, scope and design is the top priority for CFOs in 2023, according to a survey by Gartner, Inc. A survey of 157 CFOs in November 2022 ranked the top 10 priorities for CFOs for this year, and 90% of respondents selected evaluating finance strategy, scope and design as the top priority, followed by planning and sequencing finance transformation activities.

CFOs and senior finance executives are facing a growing list of responsibilities and demands from internal stakeholders as the pandemic has stress-tested the finance labor model in real time. More than 1,000 finance leaders participated in the global survey conducted in July and August 2020.

CFOs seeking to bolster their organizations’ recession preparedness should start by assessing their deal pipelines, testing the speed of their team’s financial analysis and ensuring their balance sheets can support countercyclical investments, according to Gartner, Inc.
