Worldwide revenue for the public cloud services market totaled $545.8 billion in 2022, an increase of 22.9% over 2021. SaaS applications remained the largest public cloud services revenue source, accounting for more than 45% of the total in 2022. IaaS was the second largest revenue category, with 21.2% of the total. In comparison, PaaS and Software as a Service – System Infrastructure Software (SaaS – SIS) delivered 17.0% and 16.7% of overall revenue, respectively, according to new data from IDC.

End-user spending on public cloud services in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region will total $5.7 billion in 2022, an increase of 19.2%, according to the latest forecast by Gartner, Inc. While still in double digits, growth in 2022 will be slower compared to the forecasted 21.6% growth in 2021.

The worldwide infrastructure as a service (IaaS) market grew 29.5 percent in 2017 to total $23.5 billion, up from $18.2 billion in 2016, according to Gartner, Inc. Amazon was the No. 1 vendor in the IaaS market in 2017, followed by Microsoft, Alibaba, Google and IBM.
