A survey of 403 CMOs revealed that organizations with high levels of strategic dysfunction are 36% less likely to report strong business and marketing performance. CMOs report multiple forms in which strategic dysfunction appears.
“Strategic dysfunction is characterized by a state of confusion and conflict resulting from unclear, too numerous, or conflicting enterprise objectives that marketing must support,” said Amy Abatangle, VP Analyst in the Gartner Marketing Practice. “As a result, CMOs are unable to successfully create, communicate and execute effective marketing strategies.”

According to the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Enterprise Infrastructure Tracker: Buyer and Cloud Deployment, spending on compute and storage infrastructure products for cloud deployments, including dedicated and shared IT environments, increased 99.3% year-over-year in the fourth quarter of 2024 to $67.0 billion. Spending on cloud infrastructure continues to outgrow the non-cloud segment with the latter growing by 25.8% to $22.0 billion. The cloud infrastructure segment experienced double digit growth unit demand of 33.5%, with a continued increase in ASPs mostly related to the accelerated increase of GPU server shipments.

Europe’s Demand for Digital Sustainability Solutions on the Rise — ISG - April 24, 2025
The 2024 ISG Provider Lens Sustainability and ESG report for Europe says regulatory requirements, rising energy costs and broader stakeholder expectations are the primary drivers of demand for digital ESG (environmental, social and governance) solutions. ISG Research sizes the global digital sustainability market at approximately $21 billion and says the market should reach $34 billion by 2027, a compound annual growth rate of 16 percent, roughly three times that of the overall market.
“Avoiding the risk of fines and brand damage from noncompliance with regulatory requirements is certainly a motivator for many investments in digital sustainability solutions,” said Matt Warburton, Digital Sustainability lead for ISG. “However, research shows most European businesses want to become more sustainable anyway — provided they can find a way to do it profitably.”
